How long is the drive from Johannesburg?
About 2 hours on good tar roads. We collect you early so you're at the gate when the animals are most active.
Morning or afternoon drive — which is better?
Both are excellent. Mornings (06:00) are best for predators on the move; afternoons (14:00) build to golden-hour sightings at the waterholes.
Is Pilanesberg malaria-free?
Yes — completely. It's safe for children, pregnant travellers and anyone not taking prophylaxis.
Will we see the Big 5?
Pilanesberg is one of Africa's most reliable Big 5 reserves. Sightings can never be guaranteed, but our guides track lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard daily.
Can children join?
Yes, children of all ages are welcome on our day visits. Child seats available on request.
